Y12 Geography students getting a taste of Uni life with the University of Hertfordshire Geography department. All of the students got to use a range of equipment for data collection, providing inspiration for their NEA project titles. A fantastic way to spend a sunny day, and an insight into university teaching.
Welcome
The Highfield School
The Highfield School is an ambitious school where all are encouraged to achieve their full potential. This is based on a culture of high expectation, challenge and the support needed, so that by working hard together, we can all achieve our goals. We have an excellent reputation both academically and pastorally.
Year 12 Geographers journied to Cromer on Monday for a windswept but dry day of fieldwork. This forms one of their 4 days of practice for their upcoming NEA project work. We were looking at a variety of factors including slope angle, effectiveness of sea defences and particle size on the beach as well as some more urban parts of Cromer. In addition, most made sure to rate the fish and chips as well as a selection of ice creams!
We got lucky with the weather and dodged all the downpours, apart from on the drive home. The group will be out again on Friday to investigate Water and Carbon cycles with the University of Hertfordshire.
When this happens, it's usually because the owner only shared it with a small group of people, changed who can see it, or it's been deleted.
A great win for the Year 7 cricket team. The team fielded first and with some tight bowling restricted King James to 64/3 off 15 overs. Bardley F led the chase and top scored with 20 runs, we managed to win the game in the 11th over, having only lost 1 wicket.
Well done to everyone who was involved.
Our Year 10 students successfully completed their practice expedition last weekend. They navigated some very changeable weather and found it suitably challenging. We are very proud of them all.

We took our Year 8 football and netball team to the Scholars cup. All the students performed well and they enjoyed an afternoon competing in a very competitive tournament at Samuel Ryder school in St Albans. The netball team finished 3rd and the football team finished 5th. Well done to all involved.
Our Year 7 cricket team had their first game of the season showing some excellent play. For some of our players, this was their first experience of hard-ball and they adapted really well! The game come down to the last over, narrowly losing by 1 run with 1 ball to go.
